Depending on whether you continue your studies within the university or not, the status of your email address and services like Office and OneDrive will vary.
If you continue your studies within the university (e.g., from undergraduate to graduate school, master's to doctoral program, or advanced courses):
- There will be no significant changes to OUMail.
- Your email address will remain the same, and you will retain all emails and data on OneDrive.
- You will also continue to have access to Microsoft Office desktop applications.
In other cases:
- At the beginning of the month following your graduation, your email address for signing in will change to a lifelong email address:
- While enrolled: u*******@ecs.osaka-u.ac.jp
- After graduation: u*******@alumni.osaka-u.ac.jp
- Your mailbox (including received emails) will be retained from your time as a student. Additionally, graduates from March 2023 onwards can continue to receive emails sent to their student email address even after graduation.
- However, services other than Outlook (such as OneDrive and Microsoft Office desktop applications) will no longer be available. Therefore, if you need any data after graduation, please make sure to back it up while you are still enrolled.
Important Notes Regarding the OUMail Service
OUMail student accounts are provided based on valid student status. Once your student status ends, you will no longer be eligible for the student license under the license agreement with Microsoft, and you will lose access to your data. (Please note that we cannot assist with data recovery if you have not backed up the necessary data yourself in advance.) However, for regular students such as undergraduates and graduate students, your license is typically transferred from the student license agreement to an alumni license (email access only), allowing you to continue using the email service.
