OUmail supports the Microsoft Authenticator app (two-digit code entry method). Please review the following information in case you need to switch to a new smartphone or other device.
*Please note that setup procedures are subject to change without notice due to changes in Microsoft 365 service specifications or other factors.
The Microsoft Authenticator app settings are linked to your smartphone. Therefore, when you switch devices, you should not dispose of your old device immediately. Instead, connect the old device to the Internet via Wi-Fi to use it for multi-factor authentication, and then register a new Microsoft Authenticator app on the OUMail security settings page.
Re-registration Procedure:
1.Connect your old device to the Internet via Wi-Fi, complete multi-factor authentication using the Microsoft Authenticator app, and then go to the OUMail security settings screen.
2.Select “Add a sign-in method,” choose “Microsoft Authenticator,” and set up the Microsoft Authenticator app on your new device.
Starting in September 2026, you may see an option labeled “Microsoft Authenticator Passkey,” but please do not select that option; instead, select “Microsoft Authenticator” as shown in the image below.
For the remaining steps, follow the instructions in Section 2-1.Set up multi-factor authentication (using an authenticator app) of the MFA setup guide to complete the registration.
If you have disposed of your old device or are unable to use it due to a malfunction or other issue—and therefore cannot use the methods described above—you will need to submit a reset request at the service counter or online. Please refer to this page for details. (If you are an alumnus, please contact the Alumni Section about MFA reset.)
