Note: If you are using a mail client that does not support multi-factor authentication, such as Gmail or Thunderbird, you need to create an app password before configuring the mail client. Follow the creation steps provided. When prompted for a password while adding an account in the mail client, enter the app password you created.
Due to Microsoft's changes, app passwords will no longer be usable after October 1, 2022. Therefore, mail clients that do not support multi-factor authentication (typically mail clients other than Outlook) will not be able to send or receive emails. Please be aware of this.
Before using a mail client, please confirm the following:
- Use the mail client at your own responsibility.
- The OUMail help desk does not generally support the use of mail clients. If you have any questions, refer to the respective mail client's website.
- Mail clients may become unusable without prior notice due to changes in Microsoft's specifications.
